CO2 COOL PEEL
Why choose the Cool Peel?
CO2RE Laser Skin Resurfacing is a powerful CO2 cosmetic laser procedure that tightens skin, diminishes ages spots, improves texture, improves wrinkles, improves acne scars, and improves other skin imperfections. Damaged skin tissue is removed, or ablated, stimulating new collagen production, and heat energy is delivered to tighten the skin.
Skin tissue is removed with laser energy, stimulating the body to create new skin. The CO2RE procedure is typically used in a manner that leaves untreated skin within the treated area to speed the rebuilding process (fractional/fractionated), but it can also be used in a fully ablative method for more aggressive spot treatments, causing lengthy downtimes.
While many advances have been made to improve the side effects of CO2 treatments, only your CoolPeel treatment will deliver a fractional ablative treatment without the typical downtime. Although the laser delivers high heat, there is minimal risk of hyperpigmentation, demarcation, or induced infection. The effectiveness of this treatment is highly dependent on patient cooperation. There are many things a patient can do to increase the safety of effectiveness of their treatment which their provider will discuss.
Healing from the COOL PEEL takes 3-5 days, with minimal downtime. Improvements in skin appearance can be immediately seen with the maximum results taking as long as one year as skin tissue regenerates. Clinical results vary, depending on individual factors. These include, but are not limited to, medical history, amount of sun damage or textural problems, skin type, patient compliance with pre/post treatment instructions, and individual response to treatment. O2 laser skin resurfacing demonstrates improvement in the smoothness of the skin; however, complete elimination of wrinkles or scarring is not a realistic expectation. And as with most other modalities, several treatments may be required for desired results.
Your COOL PEEL LASER treatment will deliver a fractional ablative treatment with minimal social downtime. You should expect to have red skin as if you have had a sunburn for a couple of days. The pulse from the COOL PEEL delivers high heat in short pulses. The short pulses do not allow heat to accumulate in the deep tissues. The heat is what causes thermal damage that gives us more downtime and more healing time. The COOL PEEL removes the heat component, allowing for quick recovery and big results.
The pulse from the COOL PEEL laser is not described as painful, however, the aftereffects after full face and neck treatment may produce a moderate to severe amount of discomfort (burning sensation) for approx. one hour. Most clients report relief approx. 30" post-treatment. Your skin may feel dry and scaly as it heals so it is important to keep it hydrated.
Proper pre and post-care is an important part of the treatment and will help to ensure the best possible results.
We cannot stress enough how important it is to protect your investment and to continue to improve your skin. Medical grade products such as Skin Medica are highly recommended going forward.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) can be added to your service at an additional cost to speed the healing process after your CO2 Laser Resurfacing procedure.

Full disclosure - I went just a bit stronger than the COOL PEEL - which is not an option for our clients at this time. But my Florida skin has been through A LOT and you can see that I still healed pretty darn quick. The day 14 picture may not show how SMOOTH my skin feels but I am so pleased with my results that I'm not even wearing powder anymore! I really do keep telling everyone how much I LOVE MY SKIN and I can't wait to do it again!!!

Treatment day instructions:
The COOL PEEL treatment:
The pulse from the COOL PEEL delivers high heat in short pulses. The short pulses do not allow heat to accumulate and healing times are associated with inflammation caused by lingering heat. The laser pulse is not described as painful, however, the aftereffects after full face treatment may produce a moderate to severe amount of discomfort (burning sensation) for approx. one hour. Most clients report substantial relief 30" post-procedure. A cooling device is supplied for relief. A mask could also be applied for comfort.
-
The COOL PEEL is a “no downtime” procedure, however, plan accordingly if you think you will be self-conscious about a red face. But there is no reason you should not be able to resume your normal daily activities immediately.
-
You may wish to bring earbuds (not headphones) to use during treatment as the machinery can be loud.
-
A sunburn sensation may linger for 1-3 days after the procedure is completed.
-
Your skin may become very itchy in the early healing phase. You may take Benadryl, and apply a cold mask to the face.
-
One day after treatment your skin will begin to feel rough like sandpaper.
-
Keep a very thin layer of Aquaphor on as needed for up to 3 days or longer post-procedure. Do not let the skin dry out. Avoid dryness and dry scab formation.
-
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser for the next week. When washing, the old skin will come off.
-
For the next 3-4 days you need only wash and apply Aquaphor. On day 3, also apply sunscreen if needed.
-
Avoid makeup and sunscreen for a minimum of 2 days post-procedure – just cleanse and use Aquaphor.
-
On day 3 begin using sunscreen as needed.
-
Sleep with a clean pillowcase and head slightly elevated. Mild swelling will occur upon wakening for the first 48-72 hours post-treatment.
-
Avoid applying ACTIVE ingredients to the skin for 1 week. This includes benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, AHA, BHA, retinol, vitamin C, and alcohol-based toners.
-
